On April 8, 2024, the path of totality will sweep across parts of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. A total solar eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when the Moon passes directly between the Sun and Earth, completely obscuring the Sun’s face. During this rare celestial event, the Moon casts its shadow, known as the umbra, onto Earth’s surface, creating a moment of darkness during the day.
