Why Does Instaprints Require Ssn In Order To Pay You?

When filling out my tax info in order to receive payments, instaprints required my social security number. Did you have to do they same? I just want to know if this is normal and safe. Thanks!

I have Paypal, and I just put in my email linked to my Paypal account. Paypal has never asked for SSN, but I haven't made a sale yet to know if instaprints will ask for SSN at payment time? Or do they just send to Paypal, hopefully time will tell....doug

Thanks Doug! I haven't made a sale yet either, but in order to receive payments should I make a sale I was required to provide SSN or EIN...for tax purposes they said. (I gave my ssn since I don't have an ein.) I created a PayPal account as well, but that didn't require SSN/EIN.

Go to: Behind the Scenes > Accounting > Tax Information. It should say "Tax Information (US Residents Only)". This is where it required an SSN or EIN.

The fact that Instaprints uses unprofessional terminology is a bit suspicious,,, here is a copy of my concerns- : In order to send you a payment, we need to know your tax information - that is how the business world works. ("That is how the business world works" is a condescending statement and clearly shows that instaprints have had this questions many times.) are they going to send me a W-2, 10-99. I suspect I will worry about it when I have a sale, but I suspect I wont give out my SSN for $10 bucks...
