Insta Photo Awards

Rules:
All images must be posted to a valid Instagram account, as public content. Private profiles will not be allowed participation. The photos should not be altered in Photoshop or any desktop image processing program. The use of any mobile App is permissible. Smartphone add-on lenses such as olloclip can be used. In some cases we may ask the original image to verify that it’s taken with a smartphone or a tablet. The photos that can not be verified are disqualified.


Categories:
Based on the research of Yuheng Hu, Lydia Manikonda and Subbarao Kambhampati at the Department of Computer Science, Arizona State University, these are the most frequent categories that photos on Instagram can be assigned to: #friends, #food, #gadgets, #captioned, #pets, #activities, #selfie and #fashion.

Examples of each category include:

#friends (users posing with others friends; At least two human faces are in the photo)
#food (food, recipes, cakes, drinks, etc.)
#gadgets (electronic goods, tools, motorbikes, cars, etc.)
#captioned (pictures with embed text, memes, and so on)
#pets (animals like cats and dogs which are the main objects in the picture)
#activities (both outdoor & indoor activities, places where activities happen, e.g., concert, landmarks)
#selfie (self-portraits; only one human face is present in the photo)
#fashion (shoes, costumes, makeup, personal belongings, etc.)

Prizes:
All participating instagrammers compete for the 3 InstaPhotoAwards Photographers of the Year 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Top Prizes :: All entries compete for the InstaPhotoAwards Photographer of the Year title and an iPhone 6 Plus 128GB (GSM) T-Mobile (Unlocked, Contract Free).

The 2nd place winner will be awarded an iPad mini with Retina display Wi-Fi 16GB (+ FREE engraving with the text of your choice)

The 3rd place winner will either receive an Apple Watch (subject to availability from Apple) or a Moto360 smart-watch (subject to availability from Motorola), as per their choice.

$100 Amazon gift card :: The top entry from each InstaPhotoAwards category will win a $100 Amazon gift card. The photos of the top winner and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Winners on each category will be publicized on InstaPhotoAwards online gallery and any published InstaPhotoAwards materials.

Certificates in all Categories :: All 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from each categories will receive an InstaPhotoAwards certificate.

Honorable Mentions :: InstaPhotoAwards judges will award several Certificates of Honorable Mention to entries to acknowledge talent as they deem fit.

Judging Criteria :: Members of the Jury will review all entries and judge images on the basis of artistic merit, originality, subject, and style and ultimately decide the winners.

There are no limits in the number of entries however we recommend that you only submit your best ones.
Return of the Entries

Entries will not be returned. Only winning entries will be kept on file for promotional purposes. InstaPhotoAwards will not be responsible for any damaged or lost submissions.
Use of images & disclaimer

Copyright and all other rights remain that of the photographer. Any photograph used by InstaPhotoAwards shall carry the photographer’s credit line. Use may include publication in any InstaPhotoAwards media sponsor publication. All entrants understand and agree that any image submitted to the competition may be used by InstaPhotoAwards to use for marketing and promotional purposes including in any media such as exhibitions, print and digital media directly related to the InstaPhotoAwards competition.
Participants represent and warrant that (1) the Photographs are original and that they own the rights to their Photographs, (2) the Photographs do not violate the rights of any third party, (3) the Photographs do not convey a false or misleading impression, and (4) any additional information they submit about the Photographs is accurate.


Registration and judging process:
Users will fill the InstaPhotoAwards registration form and pay the appropriate fee. Any image bearing the #instaphotoawards hashtag and any of the categories’ hashtags (#friends, #food, #gadgets, #captioned, #pets, #activities, #selfie and# fashion) will be imported from the user’s instagram account and displayed in the appropriate category of the Gallery.

THE PHOTOS MUST BE NEWLY SUBMITTED PHOTOS, HAVING THE CORRECT TAGS IN THE CAPTION. DO NOT TAG EXISTING PHOTOS IN YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT, as they will not be imported, due to Instagram API backwards API limitations.

A synchronization mechanism will import the “Likes” and “Comments” for each submitted image, directly from Instagram every 5 minutes. The judging will take into account the number of likes on Instagram (50%) and the jury’s appreciation (50%) for each submission.


Winner Notification:
All winners will be announced online four to eight weeks after the final submission deadline.

Each participant may submit 10 images.

1)   Votes may be cast by any visitor to Instaprints.com (members and non-members).

2)   You may only vote once per image.

3)   You may vote for as many images as you like... but only once for any given image.
